Researchers at the University of Pennsylvania have discovered a method to eliminate the antibody-producing cells that induce autoimmune conditions. What's more, the method does not affect other aspects of the immunity. This discovery, published online in Science, may improve therapies of antoimmune conditions.

In the study, the team looked as pemphigus vulgaris (PV), a rare chronic blistering skin disease. PV is an autoimmune disease that is caused by antibodies directed against both desmoglein 1 ((Dsg1) and desmoglein 3 (Dsg3) present in desmosomes. The lack of desmosomes reduces the cohesion between keratinocytes in the epidermis, and impairs the skin's barrier function.

Now, researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and University of Sao Paulo, have found that aerobic exercise could help to restore the cardiac protein quality control system. The study not only indicates that the disruption of cardiac protein quality control system contributes to heart failure development, but also illustrates that aerobic exercises may be a promising treatment option for sufferers with heart failure.

Heart failure, or called congestive heart failure, is a condition in which heart muscle doesn't pump blood as well as it should. Typical symptoms of heart failure include shortness of breath, exercise intolerance and leg swelling. A range of coronary artery diseases can result in heart failure.

AMD, also known as age-related macular degeneration, is a condition that can lead to vision loss. In 2010 it affected up to 23.5 million people in the world. It can cause blurred or no vision in the center of the visual field. In early stage of the illness, people often exhibit no symptoms. But as time goes by, vision problems that impair one or both eyes occur, making it difficult to see objects clearly. Sometimes, the patients have visual hallucinations.

According to a new research reported in Scientific Reports, Buck scientists found that a broccoli-related compound holds promise in treating AMD. Experiments in cell cultures and animals showed that the compound provides protection for retinal cells.

Umea University scientists have studied Yersinia pseudotuberculosis for many years. The bacterium can cause Far East scarlet-like fever in humans. Symptoms of Y pseudotuberculosis infection generally includes fever, abdominal pain, and rash. In rare cases, it has been associated with septic complications.

Recently, a study from scientists at the University of Pennsylvania and The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia has identified a new mechanism that viruses use to turn off signals that stimulate immune responses. The discovery, which is reported in the journal Nature, could have great implications in prevention and treatment of serious inflammation in future.

Immune system defend you against millions of bacteria, microbes, viruses, toxins and parasites that would love to invade your body. But some viruses have the ability to escape immune attack, infecting the host.

Bacillus anthracis, the bacterium that causes anthrax, is one of the most significant bioterrorism threats. Anthrax is a very serious disease and could affect common domestic as well as wild animals around the world. It is a zoonotic disease. It causes enlargement of the spleen. The bacteria produces three main components that lead to disease and potential death — lethal toxin, edema toxin, and capsule. The bacteria themselves aren't what sickens and kills: it's the toxins the bacteria produce. The two toxins, lethal toxin and edema toxin, damage many kinds of cells.

Recently, researchers found that a combination of engineered anthrax toxin proteins and current drugs could be promising in kill cancer cells. Bacillus anthracis produces a toxin made of three proteins that individually are non-toxic.

In Alzheimer's disease, most previous studies have focused on the role of the buildup of a protein known as amyloid beta. But research in this area doesn't help us to fully understand the progression of the condition. And there is as yet no effective therapies.

Alzheimer's is a form of dementia and one of the most prevalent causes of death in the U.K. Typical symptoms include severe confusion, memory loss and gradual breakdown of their brain structure.

HLA is a tightly linked group of highly polymorphic gene cluster, which plays a role in the regulation of the immune system in the body. The HLA gene family encodes a group of related proteins, called the HLA complex, which helps the immune system differentiate the body's own proteins from pathogens' proteins.

In a new study, scientists at the Center for Immunotherapy at Roswell Park Cancer Institute investigated the human leukocyte antigen (HLA) in order to understand why ovarian cancer patients respond differently to treatment. The study showed that women who have certain types of HLA may be more likely to develop ovarian cancer and may also respond better to immunotherapy. The study is available online in the journal Gynecologic Oncology.

According to an article published in Cell Reports, investigators in Mount Sinai have found a new mechanism about how the CBX8 protein helps breast cancer cell to grow. The discovery highlights the importance of epigenetic factors, which can cause a gene to change its expression but do not alter the gene sequence. CusaAb offers various proteins, such as Recombinant Glp1r, CBX8 Recombinant Protein, HER2 Recombinant Protein.

Breast cancer is very common. It is estimated that about 12% of all women in America will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Some patients can not benefit from any conventional therapies. Epigenetic factors are known to be involved in oncogenic cell signaling pathways. However, the underlying mechanism remains unclear.
